Here are some ministry highlights:

We had a 5-Day Club June 8-12 at Alison’s house for a group of older girls. We also held a one evening club for the older boys on that Thursday. The theme was Walking in Light. Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” We made “light sabers” for our craft.

We had the joy of getting to know a new group of believers and their children while leading the children’s program at a Taiwanese Church retreat held at the University of Redlands June 12-14. Val and I had twelve children in our group. A couple of the children made professions of faith that weekend.

I was part of a team helping train 48 students at Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) June 20-26. I was a group leader for 4 students for the week. Two were 2nd or 3rd year students and two were first year. It was good to see each of them grow stronger in their teaching by the end of the week. I also was the unofficial life-guard supervising the pool and water slide during free time. The students are now teaching 5-Day Clubs across Southern California.

My daughter Alison and I led the younger children’s program for the annual conference of the Chinese Missions Overseas. It was encouraging on the first day while checking in to hear one of the girls that we had last year excitedly say, “Look mom there’s my teacher!” We had eight children ages 3 to 5 in our group. We had the joy and challenge of teaching them Bible lessons, verses and songs about following Jesus. For most of them English is a second language. On Friday and Saturday, we had the children until 9:30 at night. Everybody was tired but at the end of the night they were still marching to the song “Did You Ever Talk to God Above?”

This last week I was the Bible teacher for Music Fest VBS in Calimesa. Each night I had the joy of challenging 25+ children and their parents to Turn to Jesus.
